Friends pray for miracle for Clifton teen

Maria Kutyla, a 16 year old Clifton High School student has battled a rare bone cancer for more than a year and while she has undergone multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, her friends have been busy raising money for her to keep fighting.

The friends Aa, Olivia, Jessica, Slavka, Mari Angel, Amber and Angela along with their families have organized a "Miracle for Maria Kutyla" fundraiser for Sept. 8 at Mario's Restaurant to help the family pay for medical bills and future cancer treatments.

Maria was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a malignant cancerous bone tumor in her lower back in June 2012 after she fainted in French class at CHS, said Aa Stroinski, her friend since middle school. Because she missed finals, Maria's friends delivered school work to her home right after she was diagnosed with cancer, Aa said.
